First Kiss

He arrived on Sunday night and it wasn’t a good time to talk to him. He needed rest. So she let him. On monday night when they were in bed lying beside each other she started the conversation. There were questions and there were answers. About the boundaries they had crossed and about the boundaries they hadn’t. The ones they weren’t supposed to, the ones they didn’t want to. It had been a long friendship and a unique one at that. They always held hands, hugged and cuddled but that’s where they had wanted to stop and it was beautiful…

And then she asked him if he would ever kiss her. That was the first thing he had mentioned when they had first spoken about boundaries. Was she asking him to cross the boundary? She was in a way, and yet she had her fears of the consequences. She was desperate. She wanted him to love her. And even if it meant within the boundaries, she would still be happy. She would accept it joyfully. She did not want him to be so shut down and numb towards his emotions. She knew he had feelings for her and was holding back. He had expressed on his couch when drunk 3 months ago that he wanted to kiss her but was afraid he would ruin the deep connection he had with her. She knew he wanted to. And she so desperately wanted him to…

There was a pause before he responded. As if he was shocked she asked the question. He turned on his left side and on his elbow, put his right arm around her waist, looked into her eyes and explained why kissing was important to him. He was raised with the belief that he should only kiss the person he is connected to emotionally and wants a relationship with. It was important for him. It was in a way sacred. Kissing would not only break one boundary but several boundaries and could lead to a lot more. He then went on to say that although they had decided not to get physically intimate he was open to kissing her as she was the only one he so deeply connected with on this planet. She felt goosebumps all over her body.

He leaned forward and kissed her. The first kiss. Omg.. She did not know whether to jump with joy or scream in ecstasy. It was a beautiful night and they kissed a lot. It was as if they had been starved of love and longed for it forever and were fulfilling themselves with those first kisses. (Kissing is like drinking salted water. You drink, and your thirst increases. ~Chinese Proverb)
