Today I promise to love you with all my heart like I have in the past. However, I can’t promise you forever. All my forever promises have been unkept till date. What I do promise you is that I will love you unconditionally. I will love you now and I intend to love you in the every now I can dream of.

I will love you for who you are. I will not change you. That is for you to choose. I promise to be your mirror and reflect what is. I promise to be there at the end of the day when you come home tired. I promise to cook a life that’s full of variety. There will be days when I might forget the salt and there will be days when I burn the bread. But I promise to eat and share with you all that life offers.

I will join you on your travels and I will join you in your cave. I promise to shower too much love and I promise to give you space. I promise to never to carry any arguments to the next day and clear all emotions before we sleep. I promise to climb the mountains of life together and swim in the oceans deep.

I promise you a hand to hold, a heart to live and a shoulder to cry. I promise to hold you accountable for your words. I promise to support you in making your visions a reality. I also know that there will be difficult times between us but I promise that I will not give up. I know that there will be disagreements but I promise to not let that affect my love.

I promise to let you grow and fly. I promise you ‘care’. I promise you compassion. I promise you freedom. I promise you honesty. I promise you authenticity. I promise you passion. I promise you intensity. I promise you totality. I promise you love.

And if and when we realise that our journey together is over I promise to not cling to what doesn’t exist anymore. I promise to let go and I promise to move on with love and grace.
